In a shocking and brutal crime in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, a woman was allegedly attacked by three men who attempted to gangrape her after consuming alcohol. When she bravely resisted the assault and hit one of the attackers with her slipper, the enraged accused strangled her with her own sari. Thinking she had died, they fled—only to return moments later and slit her throat with a knife, fearing she might identify them.

Left to Die, Throat Slit — But She Survived

The horrifying incident took place in the Karanda police station area on March 29, where locals found the woman in critical condition near Karanda Lake. She was discovered semi-conscious, without her sari, and with her throat slit.

Police rushed her to Ghazipur Government Medical College, and she was later shifted to Varanasi Trauma Center due to the severity of her injuries.

Attackers Named After Regaining Consciousness

Once her condition improved and she could speak, the woman recounted the ordeal. She revealed that she had gone to attend a ‘terhvi’ (13th-day mourning ceremony) with three men from her village:

• Monu Bind
• Suraj Bind
• Shravan

The police launched a swift manhunt, arresting Monu and Suraj, while Shravan remains on the run.

Chilling Confession by Accused

During interrogation, the two arrested men admitted they had consumed alcohol before taking the woman to a remote spot on their bikes. They confessed that their intention turned predatory, and they attempted to rape her. When she resisted and attacked one of them with a slipper, they strangled her with her sari, leaving her unconscious.

However, fearing exposure, they bought a vegetable knife, returned to the scene, and slit her throat before fleeing.

Evidence Recovered, Hunt for Third Accused On

The police have recovered the knife used in the crime and sent the two accused to judicial custody. An intensive search is ongoing for the third accused, Shravan.

Case Filed for Attempted Gangrape and Attempted Murder

Authorities have booked the trio under sections related to attempted gangrape, attempted murder, and criminal conspiracy. The woman is still recovering and remains under medical supervision.
