Gas Cylinder Price Hiked by ₹50 After a Year — Here’s What You’ll Pay Now

For the first time in over a year, the central government has increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹50. The hike comes after a period of price cuts, with the last reduction of ₹100 announced in March 2024.
New LPG Cylinder Prices (From Tuesday)
- Delhi: ₹853 (up from ₹803)
- Kolkata: ₹879 (up from ₹829)
- Mumbai: ₹853.50 (up from ₹802.50)
- Chennai: ₹868.50 (up from ₹818.50)
Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries will now pay ₹550 per cylinder instead of ₹500.
Price Change Timeline
- March 9, 2024: Price cut of ₹100
- August 30, 2023: Price cut of ₹200
- March 2023: Last hike of ₹50
- Between June 2021 and March 2023, prices rose 10 times, totaling a ₹294 increase.
What’s Next?
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has indicated that while LPG prices are up, there could be a reduction in petrol and diesel prices in the near future.
