Uttar Pradesh Government

Uttar Pradesh, the country's largest state, has promised to provide free LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala Yojana.

Beneficiaries will receive two free cylinders each year during Holi and Diwali.

This scheme was announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in November last year.

To avail the benefits, residents must ensure that their bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar.

Implementation Timeline

This scheme has already been announced, but it will take approximately two and a half months for its benefits to begin.

After receiving a free cylinder during Holi in March, eligible families will now receive another free cylinder on Diwali.

National Context - Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016, this scheme has so far provided more than 9 crore free gas connections across India.

In addition to Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh has also announced a similar free gas cylinder guarantee for its residents.
