The amazing rule of offerings in Jagannathpuri

Narrator Indresh Upadhyay, in his story, told about the amazing rule related to the Prasad available in Jagannath Dham and said, 'There is a rule in Jagannathpuri that, if you are eating Prasad, and some other person who has not got a plate, he can come and take the Prasad in the same plate, and you cannot even pick it up.

The rule of Mahaprasad itself says that if someone is eating food from your plate, then you will not ask his name, caste, and address.

Animals are also allowed to receive Prasad.

Indresh Maharaj further said that in the Skanda Purana, Shri Ved Vyas says that if a cuckoo, pig, or cat comes along while you are receiving the Mahaprasad and starts licking it from your plate, you cannot drive it away. This rule still applies at Jagannath Dham today.

At Jagannath Dham, Prasad made primarily from rice is offered to Lord Jagannath. The significance of this Prasad is so special that it can be consumed even on Ekadashi. Try to distribute Mahaprasad to everyone with devotion.

What happens if Mahaprasad is disrespected?

It is believed that a person who has any kind of inferiority complex towards Mahaprasad or commits a crime against it, goes to a hell called Kumbhi Pakam after death.

Therefore, it is said that Mahaprasad should not be accepted as a simple meal of rice and lentils; it should be accepted as the blessing of Mahaprabhu himself.
