EC: Preparations to make voter list accurate and voting process easy, Election Commission's exercise before Bihar elections

The Election Commission has intensified its preparations ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. In this connection, the Election Commission has started three new initiatives to make the voter lists more accurate and reliable, the aim of which is to make the voting process easy and reliable for the people. Let us tell you that these decisions were taken in the meeting of Chief Electoral Officers held in March 2025, in which Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi were present.

What are the new announcements, understand this:

The first announcement among the three important announcements made by the Election Commission is related to the data of death registration. Under this, the Election Commission will now get the record of dead people electronically directly from the Registrar General of India. This will ensure that the names of the dead are removed from the voter list on time. After this, the BLO (Booth Level Officer) will be able to go to the field and double-check the information, without any formal complaint.

Voter information slip is now easier:

Talking about the second announcement, now the voter slip will be made more voter friendly. The voter's serial number and part number will now be visible in a bigger font, which will make it easier for voters to identify their polling station and election officials will also be able to find the name quickly.

BLOs will get identity cards

Under the third announcement, every BLO will now be given a standard photo identity card so that when they go door-to-door to meet voters, people can easily identify them. Also, they can talk to them with confidence. However, the Election Commission says that all these steps are a strong effort towards increasing trust, transparency and convenience.
