The President of Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU), Raunak Khatri, has issued a sharp response after a video surfaced showing Lakshmibai College Principal Dr. Pratyush Vatsala applying cow dung on classroom walls, citing it as a method to cool rooms naturally during summer.
In a statement released on social media platform X, Khatri sarcastically challenged the principal's move, saying:
“Madam, we’re coming to your office with cow dung to plaster your room as well. Everyone deserves coolness. You should remove the AC from your office and donate it to students.”
The Viral Video
The controversy began when a video went viral showing Dr. Vatsala applying cow dung to classroom walls with the assistance of a college employee. She defended the action by calling it a traditional Indian method to beat the heat and stated that the initiative is part of a scientific research project led by a faculty member.
Student Union's Protest
Raunak Khatri, while posting the video clip, criticized the principal’s action as hypocritical and demanded that the same approach be applied to her own office if it is truly effective. He argued that if cow dung is seen as a viable cooling solution for students, the administration should lead by example.
