The survey also revealed a growing divergence in opinions between men and women. According to the survey, one in three Gen Z men believes that a wife should always obey her husband's every whim.

A recent survey conducted by King's College London and Ipsos across 29 countries has revealed a surprising trend. Despite generational change, many young men in Generation Z appear to be returning to traditional and rigid gender norms. This means they hold more traditional views than their grandfathers or fathers regarding domestic roles and the balance of power within marriage. The survey also revealed a growing gap in views between men and women. According to the survey, one in three Gen Z men believes that a wife should always obey her husband.

According to the survey, one in three (31 percent) Gen Z men believe a wife should always obey her husband. In comparison, only 13 percent of Baby Boomer men thought so. Women are less likely to agree, with only 18 percent of Gen Z women and 6 percent of Baby Boomer women believing a wife should always obey her husband. This suggests that traditional thinking is increasingly prevalent among young men, while women are increasingly independent.

There's a contradiction in the thinking of Gen Z men. 41 percent of men believe that career-successful women are more attractive, but 24 percent believe women should not be too independent or self-reliant. 21 percent of men believe that a real woman should not initiate sex, compared to just 7 percent of Baby Boomer men. This means they value professional success but also want to maintain traditional social and sexual norms.

Gen Z men are setting limits and strict standards not only for women, but also for themselves. 30 percent of Gen Z men believe men shouldn't say "I love you" to friends. Compared to 20 percent of Baby Boomer men, this figure means that Gen Z men are also limiting themselves in expressing their feelings.

Globally, 31 percent of people believe that men should have the final say in the household, but only 21 percent personally agree. In the UK, only 14 percent believe that childcare is primarily the responsibility of women, but 43 percent believe that society still expects this, meaning people perceive that society expects them to fulfill traditional roles, while their personal views are more modern and egalitarian.

Gen Z men prefer women with modern thinking and professional success, but are staunch adherents of traditional domestic roles and the balance of power in marriage. According to experts, this is a major reassessment of gender roles, with young men striving to embrace both modernity and traditionalism simultaneously.

According to the survey, conservative thinking is increasing among young men, but the global population is still moving toward equal and flexible roles. Experts warn that false social pressures can lead people to limit themselves and others. The solution is to strike a balance between personal values and societal expectations.
