Andhra Pradesh has once again seen a surge in COVID-19 cases. Between June 26 and July 16, 12 new cases were confirmed in four different districts of the state. Four patients also died during this period, but the health department has clarified that there is no need for the public to panic.

Chronic serious illnesses are the main cause of death.

Veera Pandian, Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, said that the four patients who died (three from Kadapa and one from Kakinada) were already suffering from serious illnesses. They had high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic kidney problems.

Where and how many patients were found?

A total of 67 people were tested for COVID-19 between June 26 and July 15, of which 12 tested positive. It should be noted that a patient from Kakinada was tested in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

  • Kadapa: 8 patients. The first case of the year was reported here on June 26.
  • Guntur: 2 patients
