Corona Cases In India: Corona cases are once again seeing a boom in the country, active cases have crossed 1200. The main reason for this increase is the new variant JN.1, which is a more infectious strain of Omicron. According to health experts, this variant spreads rapidly but most of the cases are not serious yet.
Corona Cases In India: The country is once again witnessing a rapid increase in cases of Kovid-19. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of active cases in the country has crossed 1200. Of these, the highest number of 430 cases have been reported from Kerala. While 208 people have been found Kovid positive in Maharashtra. More than 100 cases have also been registered in Delhi and Karnataka.
New cases also found in Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh
Talking about the last 24 hours, 6 new cases have been reported in Bihar, while one person has also been found corona positive in Arunachal Pradesh. According to health experts, the main reason for the increase in cases this time is the new variant of the corona virus JN.1.
JN.1 variant is a new form of Omicron
The JN.1 variant is a strain of the BA.2.86 sub-variant of Omicron, also known as 'Pirola'. About 30 mutations have been found in it which help the virus to escape the immune system and make it more infectious.
Former AIIMS director Dr. Randeep Guleria said, "The JN.1 variant is being found the most all over the world. It has some mutations that enable it to spread rapidly. However, most people have some degree of immunity from prior infection or vaccination." Chandigarh records first Covid death
Chandigarh has recorded its first Covid death this year. A 40-year-old Ludhiana resident died at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32. He was admitted with breathing problems and died during treatment after testing Covid positive. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director General Dr Rajiv Bahl said, “The cases reported so far are not serious. The virus is spreading rapidly but there is no need to panic.
