Congress Threatens Boycott of All-Party Meeting if PM Modi Skips It Again; INDIA Bloc Plans Joint Response

Tensions are rising between the government and the opposition over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's absence from all-party meetings, even amid national security developments like Operation Sindoor. The Congress and INDIA alliance are now considering a boycott of any such meeting unless PM Modi himself agrees to attend.

Congress: No PM, No Participation

Sources reveal that the Congress party is preparing a strong collective response, saying that the Prime Minister must attend the next all-party meeting if he expects cooperation from the opposition.

This would mark the second time PM Modi skipped an all-party meet, even as he addressed the nation Monday following India’s counter-terror operation. In protest, the opposition may refuse to participate unless their demand is met.

Strategy Meeting at 3 PM

Top Congress leadership, including CWC members, are scheduled to convene in Delhi at 3 PM to deliberate on the PM’s speech and formulate the next steps. After the meeting, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are expected to hold a joint press conference.

Opposition Voices Caution, Yet Support

Despite political tensions, some leaders within the INDIA alliance, including Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, have expressed support for the government’s actions against terrorism, urging unity on matters of national security.

“The world must recognize Pakistan as the epicenter of terrorism… I may not speak for the whole opposition, but the people of India are with you,” Sibal said, addressing the PM’s remarks.

"Declare Pakistan a Terror State" – Sibal’s Call to Action

Sibal urged the Modi government to take stronger steps:

  • Formally declare Pakistan a terrorist state
  • Urge the US to halt trade ties with Pakistan
  • Push back against global narratives comparing India to Pakistan

“Only then can we say a new standard has been set. Trump or any world leader must not equate India with Pakistan,” he added.
