With the help of INTERPOL, the CBI has achieved great success in bringing Munavvar Khan, who was absconding for a long time, from Kuwait to India. The CBI's International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) got a big success in bringing Munavvar Khan to Hyderabad airport on Thursday (11 September 2025) with the help of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and Kuwait Police. The CBI and STB Chennai team took custody of Munavvar Khan at the Hyderabad airport itself.
CBI and STB Chennai had registered a case against Munavwar
According to the central investigation agency, CBI, STB Chennai had registered a case against Munavwar Khan in 2011. He is accused of conspiring to defraud Bank of Baroda of crores and then fleeing to Kuwait. After this, he was declared a fugitive by the court. CBI had issued a red notice through Interpol in 2022. With the help of this notice, he was tracked in Kuwait and arrested.
More than 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to India.
