Laptop prices may rise by up to 35 percent this year
Laptop Price Rise: If you're looking to buy a laptop, hurry up. This is the perfect time to buy one . Missing the opportunity could cost you more. Rising prices for processors, GPUs, and memory components could lead to a 35 percent increase in laptop prices this year. Experts say that rising RAM prices and a shortage of entry-level Intel processors are sure to drive laptop prices higher.
Estimates of decline after record shipments
According to a Moneycontrol report, laptop prices could rise by up to 35 percent this year. PC shipments are projected to decline by 8 percent this year, following record shipments in 2025. Last year, India's PC market shipped approximately 16 million units, a 10 percent increase compared to 2024. This was the first time PC shipments surpassed 15 million units.
Prices are starting to show an impact.
Laptops have become more expensive recently due to a shortage of memory chips and rising prices of other components . Memory chip prices have increased 2.5-3 times, making laptops and desktops 10-12 percent more expensive. Another 10 percent price increase is expected this month, with similar increases expected in the next few months. Laptops that previously sold for ₹30,000-₹35,000 are now approaching ₹45,000.
No hope of getting relief soon
If you're thinking prices will drop in a few days, that's unlikely. Experts say the situation won't return to normal for the next six to seven quarters. It's believed that the PC market will see some relief from rising prices and component shortages only in the second half of next year.
