In a heart-wrenching incident from Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, a street vendor's dream marriage turned into a nightmare when his bride ran away just 14 days after their wedding. The woman not only vanished, but also took off with a significant amount of cash and jewelry that had been gifted to her.
The victim, Vishnu Sharma, is a street vendor who had recently married Anuradha from Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, after taking out a loan to fund the wedding. He had even had jewelry worth Rs. 1.25 lakh made for her, and there was Rs. 30,000 in cash kept at home. But, on the night of May 3, 2025, Anuradha disappeared with everything — including the mobile phone.
A Marriage Built on Deception
The marriage, which took place on April 20, was arranged through a broker named Pappu Meena for Rs. 2 lakh. Vishnu, a man from IHS Colony, had been introduced to Anuradha and her relatives the day before the wedding, and everything seemed normal. However, shortly after the wedding, Vishnu noticed no signs of trouble as Anuradha lived happily with him for 14 days.
A Shocking Betrayal
On the fateful night, Vishnu recounts how, after a dinner prepared by Anuradha, he and his family began to feel dizzy. They later passed out, likely due to intoxicants mixed in the food. Around 2 a.m., while they were unconscious, Anuradha took the Rs. 30,000 cash, a gold ring worth Rs. 30,000, a gold mangalsutra worth Rs. 50,000, a gold tikka worth Rs. 20,000, a silver anklet worth Rs. 25,000, and the mobile phone before fleeing.
The next morning, when Vishnu and his family regained consciousness, Anuradha was already gone.
A Desperate Search for Justice
Vishnu, who had taken a loan to get married, said he had even borrowed money to buy the mobile phone that Anuradha took. In despair, he reported the matter to the Mantown police station, lodging a case against Anuradha, broker Pappu Meena, and two others — Sunita Yadav and Shyam Rajput, who are believed to be involved in the scheme.
