In a powerful national address following the success of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that India will only discuss terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in any future engagement with Pakistan. This firm stance redefines the contours of Indo-Pak dialogue moving forward.
Delivering his speech on Buddha Purnima, the Prime Minister invoked Lord Buddha’s message of peace but emphasized that peace must be backed by strength:
“Shaanti ka maarg bhi Shakti se hokar jaata hai” (The path to peace goes through strength).
🚨 Key Messages from PM Modi's Address:
- Only Two Topics for Talks: PM Modi explicitly stated that the only subjects India is willing to discuss with Pakistan are terrorism and PoK.
Indus Waters Treaty Warning: In a direct warning over water-sharing agreements, he declared,
“We cannot have blood and water flow together.”
Operation Sindoor Aftermath: The PM saluted India’s armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists for striking terrorist headquarters in Bahawalpur and Muridke, deep inside Pakistan.
“Terrorists wouldn’t have dreamed that India would take such big steps,” he said, adding that India “hit at their heart.”
- Pakistan Army’s Exposure: He slammed the Pakistan Army’s presence at terrorists' funerals, calling it the clearest evidence of state-sponsored terrorism.
Paused, Not Ended: Modi made it clear that Indian strikes have only been paused, not stopped:
“We have just paused our attacks on the terrorist and military sites of Pakistan…”
This address marks a strategic and diplomatic shift in India’s policy, warning Pakistan of further consequences if terrorism continues and explicitly linking future dialogue to action on terror.
