Rajasthan's CM Cracks Down on Corruption with Stringent Measures
Jaipur: The Bhajan Lal-led Rajasthan government has intensified its anti-corruption drive by approving strict disciplinary and prosecution actions against 21 state service officials. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, while addressing 18 cases related to corruption, has sanctioned punitive measures, reinforcing the state's zero-tolerance stance on corruption.
Major Crackdown on Corrupt Officials
As per official sources, the CM has approved prosecution under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, for five corruption cases. Additionally, orders have been issued to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate four officials suspected of involvement in corrupt activities. These decisive steps mark a significant move in Rajasthan’s battle against corruption.
Orders Issued for Strict Disciplinary Actions
CM Bhajan Lal’s directives extend to both serving and retired officials. Among them:
- Four retired officials have been penalized, with orders to withhold their pensions in old corruption cases.
- In two cases, officials have faced 100% pension cuts as a punitive measure.
- Two other retired officers have been subjected to rigorous verification of findings, with disciplinary actions approved accordingly.
- Seven serving officials have had their annual increments suspended due to confirmed allegations in five separate cases.
These actions aim to serve as a deterrent, ensuring accountability within Rajasthan's administrative framework.
Bhajan Lal Government's Ongoing Anti-Corruption Drive
This is not the first time the Bhajan Lal administration has taken stringent steps against corruption. Since coming into power, the government has actively pursued a zero-tolerance policy towards corrupt practices.
Last month, the Rajasthan government took similar actions in 13 cases of corruption, setting a precedent for strict governance. The latest crackdown is seen as a strong response to concerns raised regarding the prosecution approvals for high-ranking corrupt officials.
With these measures, the Bhajan Lal government reaffirms its commitment to a transparent and corruption-free administrative system in Rajasthan.
