There's important news for users of the social media platform Instagram. Instagram is taking action against a growing trend that's bothering users. This trend involves creators secretly filming strangers wearing smart glasses and posting them as viral "pick-up" or prank videos. However, this has left Instagram users quite perplexed. Keeping this problem in mind, the company has now decided to take action against such video content. 

Point-of-view videos
The social media platform, which owns Meta, says it will now delete videos recorded with smartglasses that harass or exploit people. The move follows a wave of POV (point-of-view) videos, in which creators approach unsuspecting women in public places like beaches, gyms or crowded streets and film them without their knowledge or permission.

What did Adam Mosseri say?
In an Instagram Story, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the company will take action against such video content. "If you're posting content that exploits or harasses people, like the pickup line videos we've seen, such videos will be removed from the platform immediately. We don't want  people secretly filming others, harassing them, and posting such videos on Instagram. So we're going to address this in every way possible."

Two Instagram accounts deleted
Reports say two major Instagram accounts (with over 1 million followers) have been deleted for posting videos shot with smartglasses. These videos showed women interacting with each other in public, making the viewer feel as if they were seeing everything from a woman's perspective.

AI-powered smartglasses have made creating such videos even easier. Unlike smartphones, which allow you to easily see while recording, smartglasses allow creators to record videos while having conversations. This has raised concerns about privacy, consent, and whether people are aware they are being filmed. Instagram has not yet released a statement on how it will determine whether a conversation is fraudulent. It's also unclear whether creators will be warned before removing content or if repeated violations will result in immediate account deletion.
