BCCI Denies Reports of India Withdrawing from Asia Cup 2025 Amid Pakistan Tensions

Amid swirling rumours that India might skip the Asia Cup 2025 and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup due to heightened tensions with Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has strongly denied such claims.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that no discussion or decision has been made regarding India's participation in any Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events.

“No such steps have been taken,” says BCCI Secretary

In response to speculative media reports suggesting that India had notified the ACC about pulling out of the upcoming tournaments, Saikia stated:

“Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI's decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup… Such news is devoid of any truth. BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps.”

He emphasized that these reports are “purely speculative and imaginary.”

Focus remains on IPL 2025 and England tour

Saikia added that the BCCI’s current focus is on IPL 2025 and India’s upcoming tour of England. Any decisions regarding ACC tournaments, he said, will be taken and announced at the appropriate time.

Asia Cup 2025: A Key Tournament Ahead of T20 World Cup

The Asia Cup 2025 is slated for September in India and will serve as a build-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Despite India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, the Asia Cup is set to follow a hybrid model, with India's matches scheduled to take place in Dubai.
