Virat Kohli Replacement: Ajit Agarkar has confirmed that Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan. He also announced his replacement.

Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. This was confirmed by Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the BCCI's senior men's selection committee. Kohli also suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL final. Agarkar announced that Yashasvi Jaiswal will replace him in the squad.
Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings of 75 runs in the IPL 2026 final, for which he received the Player of the Match award. During this innings, he had to seek the physio's help several times, as he was not fully fit. The BCCI had also included Kohli in the squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan, but it was reported that he might not be able to play in the series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the replacement.
It is now clear that Yashasvi Jaiswal will replace Virat Kohli in the squad for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Jaiswal is also part of the Test squad against Afghanistan. The first match of the ODI series is on June 13th in Dharamsala. The second match is on June 17th in Lucknow , and the third match is on June 20th in Chennai.

Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma*, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya*, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnur Brar, Harsh Dubey.
Regarding Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, the board has already stated that they are included in the squad, but their participation will depend on their fitness. It is reported that Rohit has not yet arrived at the Center of Excellence (Bengaluru).
