"Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This was in consonance with Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to minimum over-rate offences. As this was his team's first offence in the ongoing edition, Axar Patel has been fined ₹12 lakh," the IPL said in a statement.

By defeating the Punjab Kings, the Delhi Capitals kept their playoff hopes alive. Delhi has won five of its 12 matches. With 10 points, the team is seventh in the points table and will reach 14 points if they win their remaining matches. Even in this situation, they need at least one of the top four teams to remain at 14 points and have a lower net run rate.
