Antim Sanskar: After death, the soul leaves the body, according to the Gurud Purana, when the last rites are performed, then it is forbidden to look back. What is the reason behind this?

Antim Sanskar: The crematorium is the last place where a person's body is burnt in fire and merges into the five elements. In Hinduism, performing the last rites is considered necessary because only after this the soul of the creature goes to heaven, hell or takes on a new life.
There are many rules and traditions of cremation which are followed even today. Do you know why it is forbidden to look back after cremating a dead body at the cremation ground? Let us know the reason behind this.
What happens when you look back after the funeral?
According to the Gurud Purana, when a person dies, his family and loved ones become emotional and mourn. It becomes difficult for them to bear the pain of separation from their loved ones. At the time of cremation at the crematorium, the soul remains close to the relatives.
In the Gita, Lord Krishna has said that the soul is immortal and indestructible. The body gets burnt but the soul continues to exist. In such a situation, after cremating the dead body, people start returning to their homes from the crematorium and it is said that if someone looks back in the meantime, then the soul of the dead person also wishes to go back with him due to attachment. Therefore, it is forbidden to look back after cremation so that the soul can be free from bondage and complete its journey to the afterlife.
Rituals are performed for 13 days for peace of the soul
According to Garuda Purana, the soul that comes out of the body after death is called 'pret', which is bound to move forward under all circumstances. The soul roams around its native and familiar places for ten days without a body. For 13 days, all the necessary rituals related to the last rites of the deceased are performed so that the soul can attain peace.
