Android smartphones have these hidden sensors, one you may not have even heard of!

Sensors make many tasks possible, from adjusting screen brightness to motion control in gaming. Smartphones are equipped with various sensors for this purpose.

You might not know about these hidden sensors of your smartphone!

Have you ever wondered how your phone senses the lighting around you, allowing it to adjust its screen brightness, or how lifting your phone while gaming slows down a car or bike? It's all about sensors. Your smartphone is equipped with numerous sensors that help it detect and react to your actions. Today, we're going to talk about some of these hidden sensors in Android smartphones.

Ambient Light Sensor

This sensor helps your phone detect the lighting around you and adjusts the screen brightness accordingly. It's located near the front camera and works continuously.

Accelerometer

This sensor is found in almost all smartphones. It allows for motion control in gaming and also aids in image stabilization. It's also the sensor that turns on the phone's display when you pick it up. This sensor tracks side-to-side, up-down, and forward-backward movements.

Temperature sensor

This sensor is only available on modern Pixel devices. The Google Pixel 8 Pro and later Pro models feature it. By pointing this sensor at an object, you can measure its temperature. You can use it to measure everything from the temperature of a pan while cooking to the temperature of a room.

Magnetometer

Very few people know about this sensor, but it's incredibly useful. It's especially used for navigation. When you open Google Maps, your phone's screen rotates as you turn. This is thanks to the magnetometer, which detects the Earth's magnetic field and orients the map accordingly. The Compass app also works thanks to this sensor.
