Richard Barlow's revelations about Pakistan and the US nuclear weapons have sparked controversy. He was part of the CIA during Pakistan's covert nuclear activities in the 1980s.

Explosive revelations from a former CIA officer
Former CIA officer Richard Barlow's statement regarding US-Pakistan relations and nuclear weapons has caused a sensation. He said that all US presidents until 1989 maintained that Pakistan did not possess nuclear weapons, despite knowing full well that Islamabad could deploy nuclear weapons on F-16s. Despite this, the US provided nuclear weapons to Pakistan.
In an interview with news agency ANI, Richard Barlow said, "I can tell you that most of us at the CIA were not comfortable with this. Even though we are not elected officials, we can provide senior policymakers with the best available intelligence, which is accurate. What they do after that is not our business, because we have no control over it. They are the elected representatives of the American people."
Richard Barlow was a CIA officer in the 1980s.
Let us tell you that Richard Barlow was part of the CIA as an officer during Pakistan's secret nuclear activities in the late 1980s. He further said that American investigative journalist and political writer Seymour Hersh had given interviews regarding these matters, which were published in The New Yorker. During the Brasstacks crisis in 1987, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan's bomb, had said in an interview that Pakistan had nuclear bombs. The Brasstacks crisis was a nuclear crisis that arose between Pakistan and India after the Indian military exercises from November 1986 to January 1987. Pakistan believed that these military exercises were a direct threat to its division into two parts.
Richard Barlow's shocking revelation
He said that you can read about this in Seymour Hersh's 1993 article in The New Yorker. He had seen the intelligence community transport nuclear weapons to airports and load them into F-16s. According to the US President, Pakistan had actually stored nuclear weapons that it did not possess.
He further explained that we knew everything about the design of Pakistani nuclear weapons, and as you can imagine, we knew everything about the F-16s. We also knew that the F-16s were capable of delivering Pakistani nuclear weapons that were then available without any suspicion. Yet the government went ahead with the sale.
