Where did the accident happen?

This accident happened in Meghnani Nagar area within three minutes of the plane taking off from Sardar Patel International Airport. The plane crashed at the Doctors Hostel. 

 

When did the accident happen?

According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), AI-171 took off from runway 23 of Ahmedabad airport at 1:39 pm. Shortly after taking off from runway 23, the plane met with an accident.

This plane was going from Ahmedabad to London.

There were a total of 242 people on board the plane. These include 12 crew members.

15 doctors have been injured due to the crash on the doctors' hostel. They have been taken to the hospital. The local councillor said that at least 20 to 25 people must have been victims at the crash site. He said that people jumped from the seventh floor to save their lives. They are also injured.

 

 

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also on board the big personality flight. He was going to London to meet his daughter.

Out of 230 passengers, 169 are Indian citizens. There are 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese citizens and 1 Canadian citizen. All have been taken to the hospital.

The plane was commanded by Captain Sumit Sabharwal and he was accompanied by First Officer Clive Kunder. 

How did the accident happen?

A video of the plane crash has surfaced. In which it can be seen that the plane is coming down and suddenly it becomes a ball of fire. Then there was chaos. People ran towards the crash site. Fire engines arrived. People were seen helping. They were seen extinguishing the fire.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an investigation to find out the reasons behind this accident. However, only after finding the black box will it be revealed how the plane crashed. Actually, the black box is never destroyed. All the activities of the plane are recorded in it.

Three teams of NDRF i.e. 90 people are working for the rescue work. Three more teams are coming from Vadodara.

After the accident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is going to Ahmedabad. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has also left. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is keeping an eye on this entire incident.

This Boeing Dreamliner 787/8 plane flew for the first time on 14 December 2013. That means the plane is 12 years old. This plane could be flown for 30 years. Its number is AI171. This plane could seat 300 passengers.
