Pak Prime Ministers Shahbaz Sharif and Asim Munir also met Iran's Supreme Leader and raised the issue of recent conflicts with India. However, Pakistan did not gain anything from Iran in the case of India.
Why is Pakistan getting closer to Iran?
Iran has given a very measured response to the Indo-Pak conflict. Supreme Leader Khamenei said on X, "We are happy with the end of the conflict between Pakistan and India and hope that the differences between the two countries will be resolved."
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed Iran's support for a permanent ceasefire between India and Pakistan and called for dialogue to resolve disputes and promote peace, Iranian state media IRNA reported.
It is worth noting that the relations between India and Iran have been historical and cultural. On the other hand, the relations between Pakistan and Iran have always been cold. Just last year, Iran's Revolutionary Guard fired missiles on terrorist camps in Pakistan's Balochistan region. After this, Pakistan created a lot of uproar.
After the recent conflict with India, Pakistan was hoping that Muslim countries would stand with it. But except for a few countries, almost all the countries did not support Pakistan. After this, Pakistan's PM and Army Chief are trying to gather support by visiting every country with the intention of bringing the Gulf countries to their side.
Gaza factor brought Iran and Pakistan together?
According to Iran's state-run news agency Tehran Times, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei believes that Pakistan did not succumb to Western pressure on the issue of Israel and Palestine, according to a report in the Tehran Times.
In a meeting with Shahbaz Sharif, he said, "In recent years, many Islamic countries have surrendered to Israeli rule. Pakistan has remained firm among them till now. The Palestine issue is the biggest concern of the Islamic world."
