Pakistan Taliban War: The Taliban stated that they were refraining from retaliatory action for the time being to maintain the dignity of the ceasefire. Three young Afghan cricketers were killed in a Pakistani attack.

Despite Pakistan's airstrike, Afghanistan has decided to participate in the ceasefire talks in Doha. The Taliban government issued a statement condemning Pakistan's attack and stating that Afghanistan has restrained its forces from retaliating. The Taliban stated that they have refrained from retaliatory action to maintain the dignity and security of the ceasefire.

Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Muhajid posted on the social media platform X that a high-level delegation led by Defense Minister Maulvi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid had left for Doha. Pakistan launched an attack late Friday (October 17, 2025) in Afghanistan's Paktika province, killing three local cricketers.
Taliban will not retaliate against Pakistan right now.
A statement issued by the Taliban said, "Pakistan's attack is condemnable, but for the sake of regional peace, they will not retaliate against Pakistan at this time. This decision was taken to ensure that the atmosphere of dialogue between the two sides remains respectful and peaceful." A Pakistani delegation has also arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, for peace talks.
'Pakistan is taking provocative action'
The Taliban statement said, "The Afghan government considers Pakistan's attack provocative and an attempt to prolong the war. While knowing that we reserve the right to respond to Pakistan's actions, we have decided to refrain from new actions. The conflict in the region is due to provocations from Pakistan. Afghanistan believes in regional solutions and regional security."
