In a major step toward simplifying identity verification, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Tuesday unveiled a new Aadhaar mobile app designed to make Aadhaar authentication as easy as scanning a UPI QR code. The app promises to eliminate the need for carrying physical Aadhaar cards or photocopies while offering enhanced privacy and digital security.
What Makes the New Aadhaar App Special
Speaking at the launch, Minister Vaishnav emphasized that Aadhaar verification has now become "as simple as a UPI payment." The app allows users to verify their Aadhaar instantly using either a QR code scan or Face ID authentication—offering a secure and paperless alternative for identity verification across various services.
“Now you don’t need to carry a photocopy or card—just scan and go,” said the minister.
Key Features of the New Aadhaar App
- QR Code-Based Verification
Much like scanning a QR code for UPI, users can now scan to instantly verify their Aadhaar. - Face ID Authentication
Facial recognition adds an extra layer of security for Aadhaar authentication. - No More Photocopies
No need to submit Aadhaar photocopies at hotels, airports, or train ticket counters. The app shares details securely, only with user consent. - Complete Data Privacy
Aadhaar data is shared digitally and cannot be tampered with, ensuring end-to-end privacy and protection of personal information. - Easy to Use
Designed for all users, the app is user-friendly, and the process is entirely digital and secure.
Currently in Beta Testing
The app is presently in its beta phase and will soon be rolled out for public use. Minister Vaishnav shared the update on social media platform X, noting that the government aims to make digital identity management simpler, safer, and more accessible for everyone.
