Sikh woman donates land for mosque: A unique example of brotherhood and harmony has emerged in Jakhwali village in Punjab's Fatehgarh district, where a 75-year-old Sikh woman donated her land for the construction of a mosque. Hindu families have stepped forward to provide financial assistance.

This heartwarming scene unfolded in Jakhwali village, a predominantly Sikh village, home to 400-500 Sikh families, over 150 Hindu families, and 100 Muslim families. Located 55 kilometers from Punjab's capital, Chandigarh, the village boasts a gurdwara and a Shiva temple, but until now, there was no mosque.

Donated 5 marla of land for the construction of a mosque in the village

The woman who donated the land for the mosque explained that there was no mosque in the village for Muslim brothers. They had to go to a distant village to offer prayers.

I thought I'd give them 5 marlas of land, or 1360 square feet, to build a mosque so they have a place to pray. We're very happy to see how happy they are. (Donor: Bibi Rajinder Kaur)

His grandson, Satnam Singh, said that Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims live in harmony in the village. This has been the case for generations. Whenever there is a religious event in the village, people from all communities participate enthusiastically.

All communities live in harmony in the village – Bibi Rajinder Kaur

Locals said that the lack of a mosque had been felt for a long time, but when a solution was found at the Panchayat level, Bibi Rajinder Kaur voluntarily donated her land. Since the land was in Bibi Rajinder Kaur's name, it was registered in the name of the mosque committee.

Bibi Rajinder Kaur told the media that the village's Muslims actively participate in religious events like langar seva. "I believe that all religions should be respected," she said. Punjab's Shahi Imam, Maulana Usman Ludhianvi, laid the foundation stone for the mosque. He said that Punjab has long been known for its communal harmony.

Some time ago, in Malerkotla district of Punjab, former Sarpanch of Umrapura village Sukhjinder Singh Noni and his brother Avninder Singh had donated 5.5 Biswa land for the construction of a mosque.
