A video of a Russian diplomat being arrested red-handed on charges of spying for the US has gone viral on social media. A Russian court on Friday (December 26, 2025) sentenced 38-year-old Arseniy Konovalov to 12 years in prison for sharing intelligence with the US.
In a viral video, officers from the Russian secret agency, the FSB (Federal Security Bureau), can be seen handcuffing the accused diplomat into a moving van. The video then shows the diplomat standing in a prison dock and then in a court dock.

According to reports, the FSB officially released this video after the diplomat's sentencing on Friday (December 26, 2025). This video comes at a time when relations between Russia and the United States are improving.

Konovalov was arrested in 2024. Konovalov had worked at the Russian Embassy in the United States for a long time. During that time, the accused diplomat began working for the United States. He shared confidential information related to Russia with the US.
Konovalov was arrested by the FSB shortly after returning to Russia from the United States. After a trial lasting nearly a year, a Russian court found the diplomat guilty and sentenced him.
The US severed ties with Russia after the Ukraine war.
