Using an arrears calculator, a fitment factor of 2.57 could yield arrears of up to ₹18 lakh for Level 8 central government employees. If the report takes 20-24 months to implement, the current basic salary of ₹47,600 will increase to ₹1,22,332, resulting in an in-hand salary of ₹74,732. If it takes 24 months to implement, the arrears will automatically amount to ₹17,93,568.

What are arrears?
Arrears are funds held back due to delays in payment for any reason. Due to this delay, the entire amount is credited to the employee's account all at once. Consequently, the longer the delay in the 8th Pay Commission, the greater the arrears will be.
The 8th Pay Commission is currently conducting meetings
. In September, the Commission held important meetings in Jaipur, Chennai, Puducherry, and Chandigarh. Several other important meetings will also take place in October. The Commission was formed in November 2025, after which the government gave it 18 months to submit its report. Under this deadline, the Commission is required to submit its report by May 2027.
