BSF jawan Purnam Sahu, who belongs to West Bengal, had mistakenly crossed the border of Pakistan. More than 80 hours have passed since this incident, but till now Pakistan has not handed over the jawan to India. No concrete answer has been received from Pakistan regarding the return of the jawan.
Purnam Sahu is a constable in the 182nd battalion. He was taking the farmers to the fence near the border, when he accidentally crossed the Pak border. He was in uniform and also had a service rifle. Then the Pak Rangers caught him.
BSF has held flag meetings with Pakistan Rangers thrice so far to bring back the soldier, but every time Pakistan procrastinated and refused to hand over the soldier.
The soldier's family, especially his father, are extremely worried about their son's safety. BSF officers are constantly trying for the safe return of the soldier. All units on the India-Pakistan border have been put on high alert and now preparations are being made for talks at the field commander level.
