4G mobile towers, higher education, and Amrit Bharat Express... PM Modi opens the treasury for Odisha

PM Modi flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur and Udhna (Surat), which will not only ease travel but also boost tourism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth over ₹60,000 crore in Odisha's Jharsuguda district on Saturday (September 27, 2025). Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was also present on the occasion. PM Modi unveiled several projects, including telecommunications, railways, higher education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing.
In the telecommunications sector, the Prime Minister inaugurated over 97,500 4G mobile towers built using indigenous technology at a cost of approximately ₹37,000 crore. This includes over 92,600 4G towers installed by BSNL.
'Over 18,900 4G towers to be built'
Under the Digital India Fund, more than 18,900 4G towers will be built, connecting approximately 26,700 villages in remote, border, and Left Wing Extremism-affected areas. These towers will serve more than 2 million new customers. These towers are solar-powered, making them India's largest green telecom tower complex and a step forward towards sustainable infrastructure.
PM Modi's big gift to Odisha
Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation several railway projects that will boost connectivity and regional development. These include the foundation stone laying of the Sambalpur-Sarala rail flyover, the doubling of the Koraput-Baiguda line, and the Manabar-Koraput-Gorpur line. These projects will improve the movement of goods and people between Odisha and neighboring states, and will also strengthen local industries and trade.
Amrit Bharat Express flagged off
PM Modi also flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur and Udhna (Surat), which will facilitate inter-state travel, boost tourism, and create employment opportunities. He also laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of MKCG Medical College in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Sambalpur into world-class super-specialty hospitals.
