Whatapp User Big News: Big news for WhatsApp users! Will Google Drive or iCloud no longer be needed for chat backups?

WhatsApp has become a part of everyone's life these days. From private chats to work, many things depend on this one app. Therefore, backing up chats, photos, videos, and documents accumulated over the years is equally important. But this backup often becomes a headache. When we run out of space on Google Drive or iCloud, we often have to buy new storage. Meanwhile, it's time to delete some old files or photos.

However, this problem may soon be alleviated. It's now being reported that WhatsApp is preparing to launch its own independent cloud storage service. This means that in the future, there will be no need to rely solely on Google Drive or Apple iCloud to back up your chats.

According to reports, this new feature is likely to launch first for iPhone users. Currently, due to the limited free iCloud space provided by Apple, many users have to pay monthly for additional storage. This cost may be reduced somewhat once WhatsApp's new service is launched.

Initially, there's talk that WhatsApp could provide around 2GB of free cloud storage per user. This may be sufficient for those with limited backups. However, for those with thousands of photos, videos, and a large amount of chat data, the company is also preparing to introduce a paid plan.

According to preliminary information, approximately 50GB of storage will cost around ₹80 to ₹85 per month. Additionally, larger plans up to 1TB are also likely for users who need more data. Final prices may change when the company makes an official announcement.

Security is a key component of this new service. WhatsApp is preparing to offer end-to-end encryption by default for its cloud backups. This means your chat backups will be secure, and no one else will be able to view them unless you provide the appropriate permissions. Users will be able to protect their backups with a password, passkey, or a special encryption key.

Importantly, the option to use Google Drive or iCloud won't be completely removed. Those who prefer to use the old method will be able to continue using it. However, the new cloud service will be available as an additional option. Therefore, each user can choose the option that best suits their needs.

Currently, this feature is reportedly in testing. It's being developed for both Android and iPhone platforms. Following an official announcement from the company, this feature is expected to gradually reach all users. If this change is implemented, WhatsApp users will have significantly less storage concerns. This feature could certainly be beneficial, especially for those who constantly run out of space on their phones or who have to spend extra money on cloud storage.
