Iran attacks US planes.
Iran has attacked several US military aircraft stationed in Jordan with ballistic missiles and drones. This action comes in response to US strikes overnight on several locations in Iran, which have reportedly killed at least eight people.
The incident occurred after Jordanian forces shot down three Iranian missiles. No casualties were reported immediately. Meanwhile, the war in the Middle East has escalated. Iran's Revolutionary Guards said in a statement that they had destroyed several American refueling planes and fighter jets, and heavily damaged several others. They called on the Jordanian people to target the interests of aggressive and anti-Islam Americans in their country.
Syria and Iraq were also targeted.
State media reported that the IRGC said it attacked a US Special Operations Command center in Al Tanf, Syria, in retaliation for the killing of Iranian soldiers in the Iranian city. However, no confirmation has been provided.
Explosions were heard in Irbil and Sulaimaniyah, in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq. Sources said the attack likely targeted the Iranian Kurdish dissident group Komala. At least nine people were killed and others injured. Iran did not immediately claim responsibility for the attack, but it has targeted Komala in the past.
The US military said the army was removed from the border.
Meanwhile, the US military said it had withdrawn its troops from the Altanuf base, located at the junction of the borders of Syria, Jordan, and Iraq. Syria has tried to distance itself from the regional conflict, which has engulfed neighboring countries like Lebanon and Iraq.
Earlier in March, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa stated that his country would stay out of any conflict unless it was attacked. He stated that Syria would stay out of any conflict as long as it was not targeted by any party. Iran has also made it clear that it has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. No oil or gas will be exported through this waterway as long as US attacks continue.
