"We don't need anyone's help, if the US wants to talk...," Iran's foreign minister warns Trump
Israel launched a major attack on several cities, including Tehran, on Saturday (February 28, 2026), prompting Iran to target US military bases. Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated that Iran currently does not need anyone to defend itself. He said, "We have to defend ourselves, and we will do so. We don't need anyone's help."
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said, "Iran is a country with a great civilization and has existed for thousands of years. Once the attacks stop, we too will stop self-defense. We know how to defend ourselves, and we will survive. We have not been contacted yet, but if the Americans want to talk to us, they know how to contact Iran. We are ready to de-escalate, but first the attacks must stop, and then there is a possibility of dialogue."
In an interview with NBC News, Araghchi said, "Iran is targeting US military bases in the Middle East, not attacking American citizens or their soil. This is a war the United States has chosen, and they will pay the price. As far as we are concerned, we do not want war. We are attacking US bases, military installations, and facilities in the region, and this is purely an act of self-defense."
Asked about a recorded speech by Trump regarding regime change in Iran, Araghchi said, "It's impossible. Regime change is not possible as long as millions of people are supporting this government. Yes, there are people who are complaining, but they are supporters of the government."
