This sweet drink is proving to be more toxic for women than alcohol, it fills the liver with large cancer tumors

Causes of Liver Cancer: Alcohol is considered the biggest enemy of the liver. But a recent study has shown soda to be responsible for liver cancer in women.

According to this, postmenopausal women who drink at least one sugar-filled drink daily, their risk of getting liver cancer increases by 78%.

 

This study was presented at the Nutrition Live 2022 online event , which included data from 90,504 women. The age of these women was between 50 and 79 years, and the study was conducted for about 18 years. According to the researchers, women who drink one or more sugar-sweetened drinks daily were found to have a higher risk of developing liver cancer. 

 

Dr. Juehong Zhang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said, "Our findings suggest that sugar-sweetened drinks may be a risk factor for liver cancer. If the findings of this research are confirmed, reducing the consumption of sweetened drinks may help reduce cases of liver cancer.

 

 

The connection between sugar-sweetened drinks and lifestyle

The study only shows a link, not proves that sugar-sweetened drinks directly cause liver cancer. Other researchers have questioned the validity of the study, particularly the lifestyles of the women who had high intakes. "Were these women's diets influenced by other factors such as low fiber, more red and processed meat, junk and fast food, and less physical exercise?" asked Samantha Heller, senior clinical nutritionist.

Understand the symptoms of liver cancer in women

The symptoms of liver cancer may vary depending on its stage. Apart from this, symptoms like abdominal pain, jaundice, swelling in the stomach, pain in the right shoulder, liver enlargement, vomiting and nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue, white stools are related to it.
