'They have no other work...' Owaisi got angry on Maharashtra government's Love Jihad law, called it 'Uncle Government'

Asaduddin Owaisi: The Maharashtra government has formed a committee to make a law on love jihad and forced conversion. AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has protested against this. He has also shared a post regarding this.

Asaduddin Owaisi: The Maharashtra government has formed a committee regarding the law on forced conversion and love jihad. Now a lot of politics has started regarding this committee. After Samajwadi Party leader and Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi, now Asaduddin Owaisi has targeted the formation of the committee. Both have given statements against this formation. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi has shared a post against it on Monday 17 February 2025.

Owaisi's statement

Owaisi shared a post on his social media account 'X' and wrote, 'It seems that the state government has no other work except investigating inter-religious marriages, because it has now formed a committee to make a law against love jihad.'

He said, 'Even the Modi government has said that there is no definition of love jihad and several investigating agencies have debunked the conspiracy theory.'

'Uncle trying to form a government...'

Owaisi, MP from Hyderabad, said, 'The Indian Penal Code (BNS) already considers any person a criminal for promising marriage by hiding his religious identity. Forced religious conversion is also in the category of crime. This is just an attempt to form an 'Uncle Government'. The government interferes in who you marry, what you eat, which language you speak, where you live and which religion you follow.'

Abu Azmi gave a statement

Regarding this decision of the Maharashtra government, MLA Abu Azmi said, 'This country runs by the constitution and law. Under the law, any person above 18 years of age can marry a person of any religion and can follow any religion. There is no such thing as love jihad.'

He further said, 'If a Hindu woman marries a Muslim, they change the mind of the woman's family by putting pressure, after which she says that she was forced to marry. They just want to harass Muslims. For centuries, Hindus and Muslims have been marrying each other.'
