India defeated Australia to reach the final of the Women's World Cup 2025. Celebrating this victory, Sunil Gavaskar announced that if India wins the Women's World Cup, he will sing a guitar duet with Jemima.

Team India has made it to the finals of the Women's World Cup 2025 with a strong performance. India made history by defeating seven-time champions Australia in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has made a fun promise. He has said that if India wins the World Cup, he will sing a duet with Jemimah Rodrigues.
Gavaskar will celebrate this way with Jemima.
Speaking to India Today, Gavaskar said, "If India wins the World Cup and Jemima is willing, we'll sing together. She'll play the guitar, and I'll sing." He added that they had previously sung "Kya Hua Tera Vaada" together at the BCCI Awards 2024. At that time, Jemima played the guitar, and he sang. He added with a smile, "If she's willing to sing with an old man again, I'm all set."
Jemima's historic innings
Jemimah Rodrigues batted brilliantly in India's big win. She scored an unbeaten 127 off 134 balls against Australia, leading India to a massive 339-run chase. This remains the largest run chase in a Women's World Cup knockout match. Jemimah shared a 167-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Harmanpreet was later dismissed, but Jemimah remained unbeaten until the end, leading India to victory.
'He showed his brilliance in fielding too' - Gavaskar
Praising Jemimah's fielding, Gavaskar said, "People are talking about her batting, but she also performed brilliantly in the field. Her two brilliant runouts prevented the score from going above 350. She is an experienced player, having played in foreign leagues. She has a great ability to understand and manage the game."
India has the upper hand in the final.
India will now play South Africa in the final on Sunday. Gavaskar believes that, given their home turf and current form, Team India is a strong contender for the trophy this time. He said, "The team's confidence is at its peak. If they continue playing at this pace, the World Cup trophy will be India's."
