A massive explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Sarai Barai village, under the Tikait Nagar police station area of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh. Two people died on the spot, while three others were seriously injured. The injured have been referred to the district hospital for immediate treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and began relief and rescue operations.
According to reports, firecrackers were being manufactured at the factory. Following the explosion, a large portion of the factory building collapsed. The sound of the blast was heard far and wide, causing panic in the surrounding area. Locals reported that the blast was so powerful that it shook the surrounding walls.
The sudden explosion spread panic and terror in the village and surrounding areas. Following the blast, smaller explosions continued intermittently for several hours from the factory debris, hampering relief and rescue efforts. Locals reported that the factory had been operating illegally for several months and was manufacturing firecrackers used in weddings.
The blast tragically killed two people on the spot, with their bodies scattered over several meters. Three others were seriously burned and were admitted to the district hospital for treatment. All three are reported to be in critical condition.
Upon receiving the information, police from Tikaitnagar police station, the fire brigade, and administrative teams arrived at the scene. Rescue operations to control the fire and rescue those trapped in the debris continued late into the night. As a precaution, the administration evacuated the surrounding area and completely sealed the site. An investigation into the cause of the explosion has been launched. The deceased are currently being identified. According to reports, the factory was operating illegally and without a license. Local residents allege that complaints had been made previously, but the administration took no action.
