Sri Lanka scored 290 runs
Sri Lanka's first innings in the Colombo Test was reduced to 290 runs. Despite Sonal Dinusha's historic century, Sri Lanka could not avoid the follow-on. Team India declared their first innings at 503, requiring Sri Lanka to score at least 304 to avoid the follow-on, but they fell 14 runs short.
The Indian team invited Sri Lanka to bat again. By dismissing Sri Lanka for 290, Team India took a 213-run lead in the first innings. If the Indian bowlers restrict Sri Lanka's second innings score to less than 213, Team India will win by an innings margin.
Sri Lanka resumed their innings at 265/8 on the fourth day, but only added 25 runs to the scoreboard. Meanwhile, Sonal Dinusha scored a century, becoming only the second Sri Lankan player to score centuries in both of their first Test matches against India.
On the fourth day, Saransh Jain took both wickets for India. This was Saransh's international debut and he had remained wicketless at the end of the third day. On the fourth day, he took the wickets of Lahiru Kumara and Sonal Dinusha.
Sri Lanka lost 7 wickets for just 173 runs, and it seemed difficult for them to even reach the score of 200-220 runs, but Sonal Dinusha showed courage and played a fighting inning of 103 runs and took her team close to the follow-on score, but could not achieve success.
Success for all Indian bowlers
Not a single Indian bowler was without a wicket. Prasidh Krishna was the most impressive. Sri Lankan pitches typically become favorable for spinners after two and a half to three days, yet Prasidh Krishna bowled lethally, dismissing three batsmen. Manav Sutar also took three wickets. On the fourth day, Saransh Jain took two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja each got one wicket.
