In the 43rd match of IPL 2025, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The match was highly anticipated, with CSK fans filling the stadium with hope — among them was actress Shruti Haasan, who was there to support her favorite team and idol, MS Dhoni.
Shruti Haasan shared her excitement on social media before the match, posting photos where she was seen proudly wearing CSK colors and cheering for Dhoni’s men. However, what was supposed to be a night of celebration turned into heartbreak.
Shruti Haasan’s Emotional Moment Captured
After CSK's crushing defeat at the hands of SRH, a video of Shruti Haasan went viral on social media. In the clip, she is seen wiping away tears, visibly emotional and heartbroken. Despite trying to control her emotions, Shruti couldn’t hold back her tears inside the stadium. Fans around her could also be seen consoling her as the heartbreaking scenes unfolded.
Veteran actor Ajith Kumar was also present at the stadium with his family, with his son donning a CSK jersey, proudly showing their support for Dhoni's team. Yet, the disappointment was evident on many faces in the crowd, especially on Shruti’s.

CSK’s Historic Loss at Chepauk
Sunrisers Hyderabad created history by defeating Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk for the first time ever in IPL history. Batting first after losing the toss, CSK were bundled out for just 154 runs. Youngster Ayush Mhatre showed some fight with a quick 30, while debutant Dewald Brevis impressed with a composed 44. However, captain MS Dhoni, usually the finisher fans rely on, managed only 6 runs from 10 balls.
SRH chased down the target comfortably, winning by 5 wickets with 8 balls to spare. The defeat virtually knocked CSK out of the playoff race this season.
