Sunita explains that due to the mother's short stature, the space for the baby to exit the pelvic cavity is also narrow. Therefore, if the baby weighs more than 2.5 kilograms at birth, she faces several complications, such as obstructive labor, a complicated, prolonged labor, and the possibility of increased labor pain. Simply put, if a woman is short, her baby may be underweight. However, this problem can be mitigated through diet and proper care.

According to a published South Asia study, if a woman is short and overweight, the risk of a C-section increases by 170 percent. However, it is important to note that this does not mean that all short women are at risk.
