With the help of technology, scammers are finding new ways to cheat people. Now scammers have started cheating people with fake Interactive Voice Response (IVR) scams. Woman becomes victim of fraud in Bangalore
Recently a woman in Bangalore fell prey to a fake IVR scam and was duped of Rs 2 lakh. Actually, the woman received a call which was like her bank's IVR. In this call, she was told that Rs 2 lakh was being transferred from her account. To stop this transfer, the woman was asked to press a button. As soon as she pressed the button, two lakh rupees were withdrawn from her account. The woman has complained about this to the bank and the police.
How to identify a fake IVR call?
It is very easy to identify a fake IVR call. Actually, during a real IVR, you will never be asked for sensitive information like OTP and password. If someone asks you for such sensitive information, then you need to be alert. Apart from this, scammers will put pressure on you to hurry, but this is not done on a real call. Also, an attempt is made to scare you in a fake IVR call. If you are suspicious during a call, then disconnect the call immediately.
How to avoid IVR scam?
Do not share your sensitive information on any such call.
Enable SMS and email notifications to verify transactions.
Activate Do Not Disturb (DND) service to stop spam calls.
In case of any fraud, immediately contact the police and other investigating agencies.
