Robot Cleaner: How does a sweeping and mopping robot leave every corner of the house sparkling clean? This robot doesn't bump into furniture or fall down stairs. What technology is behind this?

House cleaning by robot

Robot Cleaner: With Diwali approaching, everyone is busy cleaning their homes. On Diwali, the entire year's worth of dirt is carefully cleaned. However, cleaning a home is a very tiring task. In such a situation, many people think that it would be great if they could have someone to help them. So, let me tell you, robots are now helping people clean their homes.

It may not be very large, but its brain works incredibly smartly. Without human assistance, this robot can recognize the rooms of an entire house, avoid bumping into furniture, and quietly complete its tasks without falling down stairs. Let's explain the technology behind this robotic cleaner.

Creates a 3D map of the house using lasers and sensors

You might be wondering how this robot, without eyes, finds its way home. Its upper body is actually equipped with a special laser technology called LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). This is the same technology used in driverless cars. When the robot starts moving, its laser sensor rapidly rotates, emitting invisible light throughout the room. It calculates the distance between walls, sofas, beds, or tables, and creates an accurate 3D map of the house in its mind.

Additionally, it's equipped with anti-collision and cliff sensors. These sensors protect it from colliding with walls and other objects in the house. Cliff sensors mounted underneath instantly detect stairs and the depth of the stairs ahead, allowing it to immediately retract its steps and avoid falling.

Cleaning with vacuum suction and smart mopping

After mapping the house, the robot gets to work cleaning up dust and dirt. This robot has small rotating side brushes attached to its underside, which collect debris from the edges and corners of the walls and bring it to the center of the machine. Right in the middle is a main roller brush and a powerful vacuum motor, which, using its suction power, pulls even the finest dust, hair, and debris into the built-in dustbin.

For mopping, it has a small electronic water tank and a microfiber pad at the bottom. Unlike a regular mop, it doesn't spread water all over the floor at once; instead, its smart chip determines the amount of moisture needed and moistens the cloth drop by drop accordingly. Many newer models even come with a 'Carpet Detection Sensor,' which lifts the mop as soon as it encounters a carpet, preventing it from getting wet.

Control via mobile app

You don't need to follow this robot around. It connects to your home's Wi-Fi and connects directly to the app on your phone. Even while sitting in the office, you can see on your phone screen which part of the house the robot has cleaned and which corner is still left. You can also set No-Go Zones through the app. That is, if you don't want the robot to go near the prayer room, bathroom, or children's toy area, just set it on your phone and the robot will stay away from that area.

It charges itself

Not only that, it also takes care of its battery. If its battery drops below 15-20 percent while cleaning, it quietly returns to its charging dock to recharge itself. Once the battery is full, it resumes cleaning from the exact spot where it left off. So, isn't that quite amazing?
