The issue came to light when the Indian boxing team, following their success at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, visited the "Mr. Singh India" restaurant in Glasgow to celebrate their achievements. While dining, veteran boxer Lovlina Borgohain noticed that the Indian map was missing all the states in the Northeast and that a portion of Kashmir was also shown as cut off. Lovlina shared a video expressing her objection to the Indian map, which went viral on the internet.

The restaurant apologized

Lovlina herself hails from Assam. The Indian boxer said she was deeply hurt by the omission of the Northeast from India's map. Shortly after the video went viral on social media, the restaurant apologized and stated that the logo would be changed.

Amidst this controversy, the restaurant "Mr. Singh India" has deleted its Instagram account. It's worth noting that after Lovlina's objection, "Mr. Singh India" was heavily targeted on social media. It's possible that the account was deleted to avoid internet trolling.
