PM Modi Kumbh Snan On Magh Ashtami: Maha Kumbh 2025 has been organized from January 13, in which devotees and saints from the country and abroad are participating in large numbers. So far, more than 14 crore devotees have taken a dip in the holy river. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended this festival organized in the spiritually and culturally important Prayagraj today, Wednesday (February 5).

Many people are wondering why the Prime Minister chose February 5 instead of major Amrit Snan days like Mauni Amavasya and Vasant Panchami. Is it just a coincidence, or does this date have some deep spiritual significance? Let us know what is the significance of Maha Kumbh Snan on Magh Ashtami.
The spiritual significance of Magh Ashtami
According to the Hindu calendar, this year February 5 is the Ashtami date of Gupt Navratri of Magh month. The religious significance of this day is considered very special, as it is considered to be an extremely auspicious date for meditation, penance and sadhana. It is believed that the person who takes bath in the holy river and does sadhana on this day, all his wishes are fulfilled.
Snan-daan has special significance in Magha month and the spiritual activities done during this period are considered many times more fruitful. Therefore, choosing a Kumbh bath on 5 February is not the result of any ordinary decision, but indicates a thoughtful and spiritual approach.
Religious significance of Bhishmashtami
5 February is also celebrated as Bhishmashtami, which is a date associated with the great warrior Bhishma Pitamah of Mahabharata. According to religious beliefs, when the war of Mahabharata ended, Bhishma Pitamah was lying on a bed of arrows and waiting for the sun to move north and the Shukla Paksha. On the Ashtami date of Magh month, he gave up his life in the presence of Lord Krishna and attained salvation.

It is mentioned in the scriptures that on this auspicious day, bathing in holy rivers, offering tarpan to ancestors and especially offering water, sesame, rice and flowers is extremely auspicious. By doing this, ancestors attain salvation, and the person offering tarpan also receives the blessings of salvation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's choice of Kumbh bath on this day reflects his deep spiritual understanding and his reverence for Indian culture.
