After smashing a breathtaking century in just 35 balls, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi didn’t celebrate with flair or fire—he remembered his roots. In a heart-melting moment after the match, the young Rajasthan Royals star said just three words that summed up years of sacrifice: “Papa meri jaan.”
Behind Vaibhav’s meteoric rise to IPL stardom lies a story soaked in struggle, dedication, and the unbreakable spirit of a small-town Indian family.
Father Quit His Job to Fuel His Son’s Dream
Vaibhav credits his father as the backbone of his cricket journey. “He left his job just so he could take me to practice every day,” the teenager revealed. “Even when things were financially tight, he never stopped believing in me. Whatever I’ve achieved today is because of his sacrifices.”
His father’s faith didn’t go unnoticed. “When someone works this hard, even God starts watching,” Vaibhav said with pride.
Mother Slept Just 3 Hours a Night
The young cricketer also paid an emotional tribute to his mother, who silently carried the load behind the scenes. “She used to wake up at 2 AM every day and prepare everything for my practice. She barely slept 3 hours. But she never complained.”
From Samastipur to IPL Stardom
Every morning, Vaibhav would leave his home in Samastipur to travel to Zenith Cricket Academy in Patna, arriving by 6 AM. Before that, he’d finish tuition classes at home. Then, for hours each day, he would train—facing 500 to 600 balls daily. That relentless grind paved his way to a debut century in the world’s biggest T20 league.
