Many rules will change from August 1
Rules Change From 1 August 2026: Like the first of every month, many rules are set to change from August 1, 2026. These include changes ranging from LPG gas cylinder prices to bank holidays. These changes could have a direct impact on ordinary people's pockets and daily activities. Therefore, it's important to be aware of these changes before the start of the new month. Let's find out what's about to change.
1. LPG Cylinder:
On the first of every month, oil marketing companies release new prices for domestic (14.2 kg) and commercial (19 kg) LPG cylinders. Depending on changes in the international market and costs, cylinder prices may increase or decrease. Therefore, everyone will be closely monitoring the new rates on August 1st.
2. Tatkal Ticket
Tatkal tickets have also undergone significant changes. Now, people will receive tokens at the railway reservation counters, and then their turn will come to book their tickets. This will eliminate the jostling at the counter.
3. Bank Holidays:
The RBI's new bank holiday calendar will come into effect in August. Banks will be closed in different states for several days, including Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Sundays, and second and fourth Saturdays. If you have any urgent work to do at a bank branch, be sure to check the holiday list first.
4. ATM and digital banking services:
While ATM, UPI, mobile banking, and internet banking services will continue as normal, some banks may periodically change their service charges, free transaction limits, or other rules. Therefore, it's important to keep an eye on your bank's official information.
5. Credit Cards:
Many banks and card issuers make changes to reward points, fees, payment terms, or other features at the beginning of each month. If your bank implements any new rules from August 1st, check them in advance.
6. Fuel prices:
In addition to LPG, prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and other fuels may also change depending on international market conditions. This could impact airlines and travel costs.
7. Filing ITR is mandatory.
While the deadline for salaried employees to file their ITR is July 31st, the deadline for filing ITR-3 and ITR-4 forms, for taxpayers whose accounts are not subject to audit, is August 31st. Failure to file ITR by August 31st could result in a late fee of up to ₹5,000 under Section 234F of the Income Tax Act.
8. Home Loans and EMIs:
The RBI is expected to meet any day after August 1st to decide on the repo rate. This will significantly impact home loans, car loans, EMIs, and fixed deposit interest rates.
If you have any banking, gas booking, or other related work to do in August, be sure to check the new rules and rates that will take effect on August 1. This will save you any hassle or extra expenses.
