LPG Price Today: Domestic Cylinder Rates Unchanged, Commercial Prices Rise in September

Households received some relief on September 8, 2026, as oil marketing companies kept the price of the standard 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder unchanged. Commercial customers, however, are paying more following an increase in the price of the 19 kg cylinder at the beginning of September.
Stable domestic LPG rates mean families will not face an additional increase in their cooking-gas expenses this month. The commercial revision could still affect restaurants, hotels, roadside eateries, caterers and other businesses that depend heavily on LPG for everyday operations.
Since cylinder prices differ across cities, consumers should verify the latest rate applicable to their location before booking a refill.
Domestic and Commercial LPG Prices on September 8
The following table shows the reported prices of 14.2 kg domestic and 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders in selected cities:
| City | Domestic LPG Cylinder (14.2 kg) | Commercial LPG Cylinder (19 kg) |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi | ₹942.00 | ₹2,747.50 |
| Mumbai | ₹941.50 | ₹2,701.00 |
| Kolkata | ₹968.00 | ₹2,884.00 |
| Chennai | ₹957.50 | ₹2,916.50 |
| Bengaluru | ₹944.50 | ₹2,831.00 |
| Lucknow | ₹942.50 | ₹2,755.00 |
| Noida | ₹942.80 | ₹2,760.00 |
| Varanasi | ₹943.10 | ₹2,757.00 |
| Ranchi | ₹999.50 | ₹2,933.00 |
Among the cities listed, Mumbai has the lowest domestic cylinder rate at ₹941.50, while Ranchi has the highest at ₹999.50. For commercial LPG, Mumbai is the least expensive city in the table at ₹2,701, whereas Ranchi has the highest listed price at ₹2,933.
Actual payable amounts may vary slightly depending on the distributor, delivery-related conditions or local pricing components. Customers should check the final bill and verify the cylinder seal at the time of delivery.
Commercial LPG Became Costlier in September
Oil companies revised the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder on September 1. Depending on the city, the increase was reportedly between ₹9.50 and ₹11.50 per cylinder.
Although the rise is relatively modest, businesses that consume several cylinders every month could see a more noticeable increase in their total operating expenses. Restaurants, sweet shops, bakeries, catering firms and hotels may be particularly affected because cooking fuel forms an important part of their running costs.
Commercial LPG prices had witnessed substantial reductions before the latest increase. On August 1, 2026, rates were reportedly cut by approximately ₹192 to ₹200 per cylinder. A reduction of around ₹183.50 had also been introduced in July. The September increase, therefore, follows two months of considerable relief for commercial consumers.
Why Were Domestic LPG Prices Kept Unchanged?
International energy prices, currency movements and import expenses are among the major factors that can influence LPG rates in India. Despite volatility in the international market, oil companies did not announce a fresh revision in the price of the 14.2 kg household cylinder for September.
Keeping the domestic rate unchanged offers temporary protection to household budgets, particularly for families that rely entirely on LPG for cooking. It is especially significant at a time when changes in food prices and other routine expenses may already be putting pressure on monthly spending.
Commercial rates, meanwhile, are revised separately and often respond more quickly to changes in global fuel costs and market conditions.
When Were Domestic LPG Prices Last Revised?
According to the available information, the last change in domestic LPG prices was recorded in June 2026, when the cost of a 14.2 kg cylinder increased by approximately ₹29.
Before that, household cylinder prices had reportedly risen by around ₹60 in March 2026. That increase came amid growing geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia and upward pressure on international energy prices.
These revisions show why consumers should check the current rate instead of relying on the amount paid for a previous refill.
LPG Prices Vary From One City to Another
There is no single retail LPG price applicable to every part of India. Rates may differ because of transportation costs, local distribution expenses and other regional components.
The distance between a supply point and a distributor can influence the final cost. This is one reason consumers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Ranchi may pay different amounts for cylinders of the same size.
Subsidy eligibility can also affect a household’s effective expense. Any applicable subsidy is generally credited separately to the beneficiary’s linked bank account, subject to the prevailing government rules and eligibility requirements.
Booking Interval Reportedly Reduced for Rural Consumers
An important change has also been reported in the refill-booking process for rural customers. The minimum interval between two LPG bookings in rural areas has reportedly been reduced from 45 days to 25 days.
Under the revised arrangement, eligible rural consumers can place another refill request after completing the 25-day waiting period. The earlier 45-day interval could create difficulties for households with higher consumption or larger families.
The shorter gap is expected to make cylinder access more convenient, particularly as supply conditions improve and pending refill requests decline. Customers should nevertheless confirm whether the rule applies to their connection and distributor before placing an early booking.
What Customers Should Check Before Accepting Delivery
Consumers should confirm the latest cylinder price through their LPG provider’s official website, mobile application or booking service. They should also obtain a proper receipt, inspect the safety seal and check the cylinder’s weight if they suspect any discrepancy.
With domestic rates unchanged but commercial LPG becoming slightly more expensive, September brings a mixed pricing picture. Households have avoided a fresh increase for now, while businesses must account for a modest rise in their monthly fuel expenses.
