After US President Donald Trump imposed 50 percent tariff on India, the distance in the relations between the two countries has increased. Meanwhile , Trump posted on Truth Social and termed the India-US trade deal as a one-sided tragedy. Trump said on Monday (September 1, 2025) that American companies are unable to sell their goods in India. He said that India buys huge quantities of oil and military equipment from Russia, while very little from America.

Trump called India-US trade deal one-sided

US President Trump called the India-US trade deal one-sided. He said, "Some people think that we do very little trade with India, but they do a lot of trade with us. The reason for this is that India has charged us so many tariffs till now. Our companies are not able to sell goods in India. This has been a completely one-sided tragedy."

Trump claims- India offered to cut tariffs

Trump claimed, "They (India) have now offered to reduce their tariffs completely, but it is getting late now. They should have done this years ago." The US President's statement has come at a time when PM Modi has left for India after finishing his China tour. In the SCO meeting, PM Modi gave a clear message to Trump that India has many options open for trade.

India, Russia and China have come together on one platform to challenge the unilateral policy of US President Donald Trump . These three countries are strengthening their friendship and mutual cooperation with each other. After Trump's tariff, the world politics has changed rapidly, the proof of which was seen in the SCO summit.

America wants entry into India's dairy and agriculture sector, but PM Modi has clearly said that India is not going to make any kind of compromise against the interests of farmers. He said, "Today India is ready for the fishermen and cattle farmers of my country."
