India-EU FTA: America's blood is burning after seeing the mother of all trade deals, Trump's close aide said - 'With tariffs...'

India and the European Union have reached a historic free trade agreement. It's being called the "Mother of All Deals," a deal that has brought significant benefits to India. However, the US and the Trump administration are expressing unease about it.

US reaction to India-EU free trade agreement

The free trade agreement between India and the European Union is being considered a game-changer for the global economy. This historic agreement has been dubbed the "Mother of All Deals." This agreement is between two major economies that together account for approximately 25 percent of the global economy. This agreement, signed in New Delhi, is being considered a major success for India not only economically but also geopolitically.

This deal comes at a time when the Trump administration in the US has attempted to pressure India by imposing tariffs of up to 50 percent. In such a climate, India's significant agreement with the European Union demonstrates that India is now determining its own options on the global stage. This agreement has clearly caused unease in the US.

Why the India-EU Free Trade Agreement is historic

This free trade agreement between India and the European Union has been under negotiation for several years. This agreement will provide India with greater access to European markets, which is expected to boost exports, attract foreign investment, and create new employment opportunities. The EU is already one of India's major trading partners. This deal will reduce trade tariffs between the two sides, strengthen supply chains, and promote cooperation in areas such as technology, manufacturing, and green energy. Experts believe this will help India reduce its dependence on China and establish itself as a global manufacturing hub.

America's displeasure means India does not get relief in tariffs.

Following the India-EU agreement, the US response has been quite harsh. Trump administration Trade Representative Jameson Greer has clearly stated that India will not receive any tariff relief from the US at this time. In an interview with Fox Business, Greer stated that US concerns regarding oil purchases from Russia have not yet subsided. According to him, India has reduced its purchases of Russian oil somewhat, but a complete withdrawal from it is not yet possible. Greer stated that cheap oil from Russia is economically beneficial for India, and therefore, it is not easy for India to immediately abandon this supply.

America's stance on Russian oil has changed.

Greer's statement appears to be at odds with previous US statements. Previously, the Trump administration had stated that India had virtually stopped purchasing oil from Russia. President Donald Trump himself has made similar statements. Recently, during the Davos Economic Forum, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant hinted at some future tariff relief on Indian products. However, Jameson Greer's latest statement makes it clear that the US intends to maintain pressure on India for the time being.
